The Clean Energy Cashback Scheme also known as The Feed in Tariff scheme (FITs) is an environmental programme which was introduced in the UK by the government on the 1stApril 2010, under powers in the Energy Act 2008.
The main purpose is to support small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies.
The Feed-in tariff can generate income in the following 3 ways:
In order to receive FIT payments you will need to appoint a FIT Supplier who will pay you the FIT Generation tariff for your total generation as well as a tariff for any export to the Grid.
The system has to be installed by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)certified installers under the FIT legislation or under ROOFIT accreditation with Ofgem where applicable.
Since April 2012, to be eligible for the higher FIT rate, the building to which the installation is attached, requires an “Energy Performance Certificate” (EPC) rating of D or above. A lower rating will attract the lower tariff for the life of the system.
