What is the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)?
The Renewable Heat Incentive or RHI is a government backed financial incentive scheme to encourage individuals, Households and Businesses/Organisations to switch to renewable heating, such as Solar Thermal (Solar Hot water) and Heat Pumps (ASHP)
The Renewable Heat Incentive is designed to work in 2 ways:
- You will save money by not needing to use increasingly expensive gas or oil for your heating
- You will be paid for the hot water and heat you generate and use yourself
Who is the Renewable Heat Incentive for?
- There is the Non-Domestic Scheme for industry and organisations.
- The Domestic scheme covers homes in England, Scotland and Wales. It’s for: people who live in homes they own, private landlords, social landlords and people that build their own homes.
Renewable Heat Incentive payment calculator:
The government has launched a new domestic Renewable Heat Incentive payment calculator. This calculator will help customers to calculate what they may be paid through the scheme, based on the type of renewable heating system to be installed.
